Welcome to the latest CMX JumpStart— Inverness.
Inverness is the latest city in Scotland to attain city status. It is also the capital of the Highlands, and now it's a blog design too :)
The Inverness JumpStart is a centered, two column, fixed-width layout that emulates the styling's of a typical weblog. We chose to demonstrate this style of layout due to its current popularity as a way of representing frequently updated content on web pages.
There is nothing terribly complicated about the majority of blog designs. They all share a few common components as part of their index pages:
- A summary of latest posts.
- A selection of latest posts with snippets of the post content.
- A link that takes the user to the detail page for the post.
- A link that takes the user directly to a form that allows them to comment on the post.
- A list of links to other blogs that the site's owner thinks his users will find interesting.
In addition to those features they also contain things common to all web pages… intuitive navigation and a unique form of branding that gives the owner's weblog a look all of its own.
This CMX JumpStart includes reference to all of these.
